Duxbury to Gurnet Light - Saturday - July 2 - 9:30am

Post by norm »

The plan is to launch at 10AM from the inland end of Powder Point Bridge in Duxbury. (Hopefully 9:30 will be early enough to still get parking spaces.) Paddle along the bridge to the bay side of Long Island and follow it out to Saquish Neck. If the conditions are calm, continue on around the neck and paddle along the beach on the outside of the neck toward Gurnet Light. Stop somewhere along the way for a lunch break. Head back the same way and possibly take a spin around Clarks Island if the boat traffic is not too bad.

Should be a 10-14 mile trip. About 4-5 hours. Tide is high at about 1:00pm. Forecast is sunshine, temps in the 70s and light winds. Bring sunscreen.

Wet exit/Rescue skills and a sprayskirt are required.
I would recommend at least a 15 foot boat.
Ability to paddle over 10 miles.

Please reply if you are coming so we'll know to wait for you or look for you if parking turns out to be a problem. Send me a PM if you would like my cell-phone number.

You guys are killing me. :x

It will be me against the rock walls this weekend. They keep falling down...I keep repairing them. Then there's the lawn...and the weeds...and flower beds...and the place we are putting the big tent. The good news is that I just bought $700 worth of booze. Better be some left over.

Have fun.
