Recreational trip - Billington Sea - Sunday, Apr 29

Post by pat »

For those of us who haven't been paddling maniacs during the early season, here's a chance to get out and start stretching out those muscles.

The plan is to launch at 1pm. Since the route from pavement to the put-in is a little sketchy, we're going to meet at the entrance to Morton Park at 12:45 ON THE DOT. If you're late, drive around and ask directions.

It's April, and the water is STILL very cold. take appropriate measures.

Directions to entrance to Morton Park:
Rt 3 south to Exit #6 (Plymouth Center)
Right off the ramp
Left at 2nd light (Pilgrim Hill Rd)
Left at the end of the road (Summer St)
2nd right (Westerly Rd)
Right at the end of the road (Billington St)
After you go under the highway, entrance to Morton Park is on the right.

We'll be launching from about here:

You might see a sign for Morton park on Summer st. Ignore it. We use the back entrance.

Wow, you guys are fast! From the park gate to launching in 15 minutes. I'd join you but it takes me longer than that to prep my camera, cell-phone and GPS. :D

Eileen and I will be there. We might be able to launch from Billington Sea Kayak. I could ask Doug if that makes sense. Let me know if I should call him.

Well into our seventies, I'm hoping.

But on Sunday, I'm not sure. Probably 2-3 hours. We'll probably circumnavigate and maybe stop on the island.

I will not make it. I am having a problem with the rack on my car and do not want to pull the trailer down.

Hi, I'm a new guy. I heard about your club at the Nemaskett River Race in Middleboro today and thought I'd drop by for this trip and meet you guys. I'm always up for expanding my paddling friends, especially when they are close by. I'm looking forward to meeting you :)
