Looking for a group paddle this sunday

Post by bronalea »

Anyone want to paddle Plymouth Harbor or Duxbury this Sunday? I am an experienced level 2 with a good sea kayak but am unfamiliar with the area. I would need to go with a group who know these waters. Wet exit and self rescue re-entry are no problems. Contact me if interested. Bonnie

If you do head out in Plymouth bay this weekend be very conscientious of the time/tide, low tide will be at 3:30pm.
The most popular launch spot is at Stevens field, however it is not accessible +/- 2 hours of most low tides due to mud flats.

Bonnie - wish I could get out Sunday with you but I dare not commit to another day on the water since I'll be out all day Saturday. I was thinking I might be able to get out for a morning paddle, but I don't think I better plan on it.

Ken is definitely right about the tide. We came in at dead low to Stevens Field recently and found it horribly muddy.

I hope somebody can join you.

Bonnie,
Have you decided on a time of day?
I'm trying to convince my with to go.

I have no plans yet for Sunday. A paddle on the home turf sounds appealing. Tide is tough, no matter where we launch, unless we want to pay for parking, and use the old boatramp next to the lobsterhut. I'm up for a paddle any time after 9.30ish

Kit and I can do 9:30. Stephen's field?
We should not have a tide issue if we are back by 2:00pm, it is a minor tide.

Stephen's field 9:30 is fine with me. My wife will be with me. It is on Rt3A 1/4 mile south of down town, left side.

Thinking of joining you for a few hours of paddling. I'll see what the weathermen say in the morning and what it looks like when I wake up. I was out paddling all day and need to go fall asleep now, but I'm sure I'll be up early and ready to go...

See you in the morning.

Well Bonnie, thanks for instigating a Sunday trip even though you didn't show up. Four of us did a spin around Plymouth Harbor and a bit of Kingston Bay. Ken demonstrated his local knowledge of the area and got us back over the mudflats long before low tide. We did about 10.3 miles in the scortching heat with just occasional breezes. In attendance were myself, Ken, Kit and Ric.

Thanks for coming out everybody. It's nice to get out paddling on such a nice day.
