Sunset/Moonrise Paddle to the Spit, Friday, August 3rd 2012

Post by TraceyJ »

A full moon will be rising at 8:30 pm, the sun setting at 8:00.
Lets get together for a leisurely paddle. This is always a fun and relaxing time. (I get myself stuck in the mud, every time.)
Low tide is 6:30. I would like to try for a 6:00 launch, although this being a workday, I know this may be difficult for some.

Please bring something to sit on. A chair, towel, small blanket and a light jacket to wear on the return trip, as temperatures may cool.
Make sure you have some kind of lighting as it will be dark on the return trip.

I will be bringing some appetizers and surely, anyone who would like to bring something, please chime in.
Everyone, please bring your beverage of choice.

Please post if you plan to attend.
Please let me know if you can't be there for 6:00. We can wait for you.

Meet location: (Put-in), 220 Driftway, Scituate, MA

Enjoy the week.
Looking forward to seeing EVERYONE Friday.

Cindy and I would like to come. However, it takes about an hour to get to Scituate without traffic. I am not sure if we can make it at 6:00 p.m. By the way, how far is the paddle? we are trying to determine if we should go with one tandem or 2 singles.

Hi James & Cindy,

It's a short paddle to the spit (1-1.5 miles). Hopefully the traffic will be light and your trip down will be a bit easier.

Have a great week!

Hi Jim,
This is a salt water trip. Not sure your singles are up for it.

Hi Chip,

Good to see you finally do some paddling this year...the season is almost over! We have another outing on Sunday at Squam Lake to clean up the boats, so we got it covered :)

I keep missing this one each year. We'll be down in New Seabury over the weekend ...so its Waquoit Bay instead for me. Have a good evening...should be fun.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks in advance for all the responses to this trip.
Great group of people going. (Mark, I hope you still plan on joining in.)
The weather couldn't be nicer and it should be a beautiful evening.
I'll see you all in a few.

(Vacation day and I'm heading out to Little Harbor for a little moving water. I've got the bug.)

Yes, I will be there. Bringing bacon-wrapped grilled salmon appetizers and a watermelon. And my fishing pole. (That should keep them all away.)

Looks like I have to cancel out. Both EMS and REI sold out their beacon lights. Safety first.

Thank you, Tracey, for organizing a beautiful evening paddle to the Spit. Will anyone write a trip report or share photos?
