Rec trip: South River, 6/9 better weather! Going solo!

Post by Anne.B »

Leave Humarock at 11 a.m. a bit before high tide in the ocean. Approximately ten miles round trip, past old inlet, marshes with side creeks I've not yet explored to the Willow Street bridge and back. Private parking. Details to participants. Private message me with ? or call 860 882 9810

Required: boat, paddle, PFD, water. Suggested: snack/lunch/supper. Ocean side swimming after paddle. Bath house with shower available.

Beautiful day for a paddle. Got off a bit late and tide was going out at my start. Didn't make Willow Street. An egret took off as I approached. I had no idea how great their wingspan was. Also saw swallows unknown type. Of 9 paddlers I saw, only one had on a PFD!

Am getting used to my new boat.

I guess there is not a great interest in rec paddles.

The problem with rec paddles is that the rec people come here, don't see any rec paddles, and then don't stick around.

If there were more rec paddles, the rec people would stay.
If there were more rec people, it would make more sense to have rec paddles.

Catch-22

Anne, Please keep posting these kind of trips.

Not only did I see this one after the fact, but I was away last weekend. Otherwise, I would have loved to go! Any plans this weekend?

Pretty scary about the 8 non-PFDs.
