Duxbury- Powder Point to Gurnet Light-Friday July 5

Post by Aquaholic »

A few of us that want to stay local plan to launch from Powder Point Bridge in Duxbury tomorrow at 8:30 am and paddle along the bay side of Long Island then follow it out to Saquish Neck. If the conditions are good, continue on around the neck and paddle along the beach on the outside of the neck toward Gurnet Light. We will stop for a lunch break then head back, maybe around Clarks Island if boat traffic is light.

This should be about a 12 mile trip, 4-5 hours. Tide is high at 10:20 am, low at 4:30 pm. Forecast is partly cloudy, temps in the 90s and a WSW wind of 10-15 mph. Bring sunscreen, lots of water, lunch etc.
Please post here if interested.

Wet exit/Rough water rescue skills are required.
I would recommend at least a 15 foot boat with spray skirt and front and back bulkheads.
Ability to paddle 10-15 miles.
The water is still a little cold when you get offshore - proper clothing for cool water temps recommended.
