Duxbury bay paddle for Sunday August 4th
Hello All;
I am a recreational kayaker, new to Wild turkey paddlers, who will be paddling the Duxbury bay area, Sunday August 4th . I have a Delta 12 10 sea kayak. I have never kayaked Duxbury before and it’s on my dream kayak destination list!
I belong to a few kayak clubs in the north shore, but would prefer to paddle with someone who has paddled the Duxbury bay area. I am competent in Self and Assisted Rescues, have taken a resque skills training and wear my PFD, whistle etc. I have paddled Little habor in Marblehead, Essex River, and Boston Harbor to name a few and my Kayak has handled the waves wonderfully.
If interested, please let me know. I have a few kayak buddies that will be joining us as well.
We can paddle 9 miles, no problem.

Re: Duxbury bay paddle for August 3rd or 4th?
I'm tentatively interested in this. Tide should be high at mid-late morning, which would work out well. I have a couple of scheduling things that I need to hammer down before I can commit.
Re: Duxbury bay paddle for August 3rd or 4th?
Thats good to hear, a late morning paddle would work for me.
Re: Duxbury bay paddle for August 3rd or 4th?
I might be interested if I can adjust my schedule a little. Which day are you leaning toward, or will the forecast determine that? I think either day would be OK for me ... Pam

Hi Pam,
Yes you are welcome to join us. Have you paddled duxbury bay before? Pat is still hammering out his schedule to see if saturday is doable for him( Sunday is not doable for him).

I have paddled in Duxbury, but would not be prepared to be a leader. Hoping we can attract others who know the area better. I will stay tuned .... Pam
Re: Duxbury bay paddle for Sunday August 4th
Hello Pam
It looks like Sunday at 9:30 am we'll be kayaking!
So far there are 6 of us from a north shore paddle group going; eric, Arlene, Hao, nancy, Emily.
We will begin our paddle on Back river near (little Harry foot Island) heading towards PowerPoint bridge. North of the bridge, the waters tend to be fairly calm. Several estuary streams wander through some pretty marshland and make for some beautiful flatwater paddling. But like all tidal estuaries, our trip will be on the high tide end of the schedule.
At Powder Point bridge, we can also head south along the inland coast and up the Bluefish River and perhaps under the Washington Street bridge. ( see google maps ) We plan will get back around 2 pm. Since we will be kayaking close to the inland coast, we should be fine without Pat.
If you want to join us send me an e mail and I will send you the location to meet.
Pat says he wont be able to join us. ( he has house related work to do).

Hi Pat;
The Duxberry paddle went well. It was a beautiful day. We followed the inland route to bluefish river and down past the maritime school.
Thanks for your helpful suggestions!
