Duxbury Bay - Sunday - 9/8/13 - 11:00am

Post by norm »

I've cancelled the long, aggressive, far away paddling trip I was planning to do tomorrow due to the high, offshore afternoon wind forecast. But, I do want to get out and paddle, so I'm planning on a more local alternative.

I'd like to meet at the Powderpoint Bridge at 11:00am and launch by about 11:30. Not sure which way we'll go, but we'll see what the wind is doing and find somewhere to ride the waves. Planning to stay out for four hours or so and may stop for a lunch or snack break somewhere.

Wet exit/Rescue skills are required. Ability to paddle 10-14 miles.
Ability to paddle at a 3+ mph speed for 4 hours.
I would recommend at least a 15 foot boat. Bulkheads or flotation front and back required.

Please reply if you plan to attend.

Three letters - D V R

2 advantages:
1. If you hear the game stunk, you've made better use of your time.
2. If the game was good, you can watch it at your leisure and fast forward through the commercials!

Well Pat, for all my wise-crack comments, it turns out my DVR failed to record the game. Bring back VHS tape...that never seemed to fail. This hardware from the cable company always seems to be acting up.

We had a nice time on the water today though. Got a little workout on the return trip into the wind. Should have launched in Plymouth and headed toward Duxbury to ride the north wind back at the end of the day.

Thanks for coming out for a paddle arranged at the last minute Linda, Abby and Steve. We only did 10.9 miles, but the last 3 miles we get double credit for due to the wind. I looked at the historical data for Duxbury today and it was blowing at 10+mph steady during our return with a few gusts at 15 to 20mph.

You picked a good game to miss. One of the more unenjoyable wins in memory.
Barmaid was still cute, though.
