Canada camping trip - July 18-Labor Day
Eacape summer heat and join us on a fun 4 week, 700 mile sea kayaking trip to Northern Labrador. Leaving Boston area on 7/18, hopefully back by Labor day. Familiarity with Katabatic winds, icebergs, fog, monster nor'easters, firearms and reassembling bear victims necessary. Ability to keep cool around polar bears and mosquito swarms desired. Beginners welcome. Weather will not be hot. Water temp 32F.
Re: Canada camping trip
Having read Nigel Foster's "Stepping Stones of Ungava and Labrador," I'm not entirely sure your trip is suitable for beginners....
Best of luck to you. It will be one to remember!

Good book, ain't it? I liked his solo crossing of the Hudson straight, in the dark.

There's a "right to arm bears" joke in there somewhere. I'll keep looking.
Re: Canada camping trip
I have a great hankering to kayak in Labrador, but not the Hudson strait. What a crazy, almost fatal, thing to do!
I envy you your opportunity to take the trip - take lots of photos so I can enjoy it vicariously!

Turkey's just aren't signing up for trips this summer, eh?
Re: Canada camping trip - July 18-Labor Day
I don't believe in polar bear feeding programs.

I flew over that area two days ago. Didn't see too many icebergs in the water, there was no snow on the ground and I was too far off the ground to spot polar bears. Stay safe out there. Return with lots of stories, photos and hopefully without too many bumps and bruises to you or your equipment.
Wishing you a fantastic trip!
