Blue Moon Paddle to the Spit July 31

Post by Mark »

I'll post this, but it is an annual Turkey Tradition, with a twist. This month on Friday. July 31 there is a rare blue moon - which is the second full moon in the month. It lines up well for a full moon paddle to the Spit in Norwell.

Low tide is around 6:30PM, with sunset and moonrise both at 8:03 PM. Turkeys usually flock to the Spit, dinner and drinks in hand, on the last of the ebb tide and paddle back on the incoming tide after dark. Always a fun event.

Last year, someone even thought to bring some Midnight Moon.

I am not organizing this, but may attend if I can get my boat down to the Driftway. (No racks on my new car.)

Kate is indeed interested so I will cart Mark and his boat to the (Scituate) put-in. Weather-dependent, of course.

I guess I am thinking about a 6:00 -6:30 launch time? Does that generally work for everyone?

Be sure to bring headlamps for the paddle back.

I invited Russ Ellis to join us and he is going to try to make it. Russ can represent Bea who is almost always on these paddles.

Are you bringing homemade cookies, Joe???

Everyone,

I have some paper plates, bowls and plastic forks and spoons.

Can someone please bring a tarp, if you have one?

Thank you

Tracey, I can bring a tarp for our "tablecloth". It sounds like the brownie bites I brought last year might fit the menu. Maybe another appetizer. Need to go shopping.
