Saturday paddle / play @ Little Compton (Full)
Greetings All,
We’re looking to do a paddle and play day @ Sakonnet Point http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6685595
The plan is to meet no later than 8:30 AM, and launch by 9:00 AM. For planning purposes, my plan was to head back from our lunch location by 2 PM.
The day is intended to be a low key, fun day. No one should feel compelled to paddle or play beyond their limits.
We can paddle and play as we work towards a lunch landing destination east of our put in within the harbor.
This will be a textured day with light winds (5-10 predicted) and waves ~ 2’
We will have an opportunity to play in the waves / surf as people wish.
For those who wish to forego the play and would prefer to paddle to a lunch spot we can do so provided no one paddles alone.
My request is that everyone who participates is practiced with their wet exits and assisted rescues. This will not be a suitable trip for a beginner.
If you choose to play, please bring a helmet. If don't have a helmet and wish to play, please contact other folks to see if there are extras available.
For those of you who have VHF Radios, please bring them. If the group splits off into two groups we’ll want to be able to communicate our status and not just have the radios for Urgent Communications
I suspect we’ll have a good size group, and we can support and guide each other accordingly.
Please, no one paddles off alone.
Please RSVP by Friday Afternoon.
This should be a fun day!

I'll plan to be there and will be bringing a friend. Might have to bail if the weather forecast does not hold up.

Unfortunately I'm entertaining family that day. Be safe, have fun . FYI, maybe contact the harbor master if you're expecting an overflow of vehicles at the launch.

Scott Haigh and Roger Good are planning to attend.

Jordan - a new member that just joined last night may come on the trip tomorrow. I met him on Jim's trip 2 weeks ago. Jim must have told him about this trip. The new guy's login is Jamiec. I've explained the bulletin board to him and asked him to respond, but I just thought I'd tell you now so you'll have him in the count in case he doesn't have time to reply early this morning.

Re: Saturday paddle / play @ Little Compton
Looks like we'll have a good size group tomorrow.
With that in mind and having a diverse mix of paddling perferences it has been suggested we have two groups.
I think think that makes a lot of practical sense, as with all large groups, cohesion and similarity of paddling styles / speeds are always tough to match.
One group will be those looking for lumpy and play, while the second group will be more leisurely - less play, and getting to a lunch time destination.
We can decide tomorrow where a central lunch time meet make sense.
Logistics for tomorrow: Please everyone adhere to these requests made of us from the Sakonnet Harbor Master.
Please do not drive on to the beach to unload the boats, please park along the road and unload from there.
Please park in the area across the street, provided space is available. If not along the road off to the side as much as possible.
The Harbor Master is Mike Massa in case you have the occassion to speak with him tomorrow.
Looks like it should be a fine day to be on the water tomorrow.
Regardless of the group you choose to paddle with, please stay with that group.
We can figure out who will be each group's focal person will be when we gather before the launch tomorrow.
It's a big group, and the agenda is fun, not excessive structure, while keeping an eye on each other through the day. If someone gets in trouble, please let others know.
If you see someone struggling, let others know.
Most of us have paddled with each other over the years and know what to look for.
For all the new folks we will be meeting tomorrow, Welcome!
Please bring your VHF Radios and other 2-ways if you have them.
Looking forward to seeing everyone!
