Easy Camping in Casco Bay, Sept 18 - 20

Post by JeffB »

Enjoy a weekend of camping on MITA islands in Casco Bay. Plan is launch from Yarmouth, ME on Friday afternoon and paddle out to camp on one of the islands and setup camp. Saturday we'll paddle to Jewell (weather dependent) and hike / swim, then return to Yarmouth on Sunday. We'll paddle 6-8 miles per day, spending 3-4 hours on the water. Otherwise we'll explore some of the islands, swim, fish, or just relax in a beautiful area. Cost are expected to be $50 per person for food.

To participate, you need some experience camping and able to paddle for 3-4 hours. Weather can change during multi-day trips, so we might encounter adverse conditions (wind, waves) and you need to be able to handle this. To register, contact Rob Nardone (rnardone@hotmail.com) or Jeff Barrell (jbarrell@yahoo.com). Please include 2-4 places you have paddled the last few years, including location, distance, and conditions. Once registered, we provide launch details and other needed info.

We will do group dinners and breakfasts, lunches on you. We don't eat freezed-dried - our boats can carry a lot and we tend to eat well. I'm bringing my small dutch oven for fresh-baked bread or dessert. Each participant will be assigned to one of two cook crews, so will help prepare, cook, or clean one of the dinners & breakfasts (many hands = light work duty for all).
This trip is filling quickly.
