Cuttyhunk from Gooseberry Neck August 6th
Its been a few seasons since we had a trip to Cuttyhunk
DATE: Saturday August 6th, 9 AM Launch
We'll assess the day as it gets near, and of course when we get to the launch we'll make the final call.
Its likely to be a "textured" and challenging trip depending on the conditions of the day - tides.
Please RSVP ahead of time, we don't want folks to participate unless they've had some open water experience and proficiency. Its a significant crossing, and finding out your not adequately prepared in the middle will not be a good time for all involved. Get your practice in early this year, and be ready to paddle and enjoy the conditions.
Its about 16-18 miles for the day depending on how direct we are. There will be time to explore the Island and grab and ice cream or a Nashaweener Hot dog
We've had some fun trips in the past and looking forward to another this year.

Hi Diane,
Glad you're interested in the trip.
What boat are you paddling this season?
FYI, we'll be starting up our Skills Sessions in Hanson in a couple weeks.
See you soon

Hmm.... how 'bout I set out from Woods Hole and meet up with you - give folks the opportunity to go from Gooseberry to Woods Hole in one day. It's be a long day, but totally doable.

Sounds like fun but potentially a logistical hassle getting the vehicles and the boats together at the end of the day.
Come off the Island and join us from the Mainland
We'll have to see who else would like to join the fun as the day nears.

I'm interested in this trip, although tempted to join Josko from or to Woods Hole. I've been paddling many, many years and have paddled open water, am comfortable in swells. Breaking waves are not my favorite, especially at the beam, but most people don't plan for these conditions (right Josko?). I've circumnavigated cape Ann couple times, plus Isle au Haut, so distance here is quite reasonable. There are logistics with return route to Woods hole, such as shuttle and tides. If logistics get too complicated, its not worthwhile, but worth a look.

Hi all
I'm in. Conditions or distance not an issue. Looking forward to it.

Ken,
I am indeed. There's one other person interested in starting at Gooseberry and finishing with me. I'm offering to shuttle 2 (maybe 3) people + boats back to Westport after we get to Woods Hole. We'll need to keep an eye on weather with the current 15-20 kt forecast.

Gooseberry Neck August 6th - Now Ned's Point around West Isl
Greetings All,
I have to back out of this particular trip. Some chronic back pain has forced me into some different trip choices.
Instead of CH, I'm planning to go from Ned's point to and around West Island.
For those of you who wish to still make their way out to CH, you'll be in good hands with Josko. If the winds are as they are predicted you should have a fun down wind return trip along the Elizabeth's.
I will start a separate thread for Ned's Point to West Island.
My apologies for the change in plans. I did however want to make them known early enough so as to allow everyone a chance to plan accordingly so they don't lose their day on the water.
