Cancelled - Whale Watch - Herring Cove Beach April 22nd

Post by kayakerjnj »

Its that time of year again. Although I've not heard of any local updates, undoubtedly there will be some activity in the coming month.

I'd recommend planning a Saturday after Patriots Day Weekend, or in that time frame.

Launch Location: https://goo.gl/maps/sod4VbuD9NC2

I am definitely looking forward to going again this year.

Please be aware, that all who go should be mindful of sticking together as a group. The waters are still cold, and lets not forget the critters we're taking pictures of are quite large. A group with some semblance of cohesion is our best safety measure, in case assistance is needed.

Looking forward to another fun season on the water! :D

Hey Jordan

Good to hear your back and ready to "roll"...... well maybe too cold to roll just yet!

I'll be putting the snowboard away soon and ready to paddle. Really hope to attend this!

Just to hold a weather permitting date, I'm planning for Saturday April 22nd.

Launch time 9:30, see what the day brings from there.

Coldwater attire required.

I sincerely hope we can see a Right Whale this year! Seeing any whales are a real treat, but to finally see the rarest is a very special experience!

Hoping the weather will cooperate for the day!

Sorry to hear you won't be able to join us tomorrow Dave. Hope to see you on the water soon this season.

Tomorrow appears to be improving in conditions, while it will still be both cool and likely a little lumpy with light winds out of the NNW tomorrow.

Hoping for some good sightings for the day.

See you tomorrow!

Jordan,
Mark and i will not be going tomorrow- the forecast is not favorable for whale watching from the boats. Hope it changes and that you get to see tons!

Conditions:

http://marine.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-70.25776&lat=42.05417#.WPox1vnyuHt

Not necessarily a warm and sunny day, but at least its calmed down considerably from earlier in the week where 3-5+ seas were forecast.

Cancelling the trip for today/

I'm sorry but the weather hasn't held up as hoped for today, and others have already cancelled for today.

We'll see if we can reschedule for another day

My apologies.

Good call - it was rough and totally fogged in here most of the morning. No visibility.
If the seas don't cooperate, I can show you a trail to get out to Race Point Light and we can watch them from shore, often 40 yards away. I'll try to keep next weekend free.

Yeah, going out on a "Whale Listen" doesn't have the same effect.
