Interest in paddling at Camp Kiwanee was fading last time we were there two weeks ago. Nobody felt like working on skills and as Bea points out, the little pond gets dark and dreary quickly this time of year. So, I suggested we paddle Monponsett Ponds and I was very surprised at how many others liked the idea. Nine of us showed up at about 4:30pm. The weather cooperated with air temps in the 60's all evening. There was even a practically full moon lighting the sky for us, keeping us on the water well beyond sunset.
I got a few good pictures to share from the evening and put them on Facebook. You can view them and read additional comments even if you are not a Facebook member using the following link:

Great suggestion, Norm!
All nine of us enjoyed a 6+mile loop around the edge of East and West Monponsett lake. A beautiful evening in brilliant falls colors under the dim Hunter's full moon. Never seen so many Wild Turkeys all of a sudden turn into lunatics. I think I even heard Norm howl at one point....and I am not even going to quote what he said!

Great pictures and a fun night!!
We've been so lucky to have the weather cooperate to let us enjoy the last few Thursdays before the end of Daylight Savings Time.
I think full moons agree with us

Nice pics Norm - I'd like to learn how you get the GPS data and do the mapping.

1st you need to use a waterproof, handheld GPS that you can carry on kayak trips and learn how to use it to record your track.
2nd - transfer the track to your computer with software that comes with the GPS
3rd - convert the GPS track to Google Earth Markup Language using a website like http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/
4th - bring up the track in Google Earth and you can save the image as a jpeg
It's that simple...
